Valentine's Day or Saint Valentine's Day is a festival of love and ecstasy that is celebrated on February 14 every year across the world. The fervor of this traditional festival lies in exchanging Valentine cards, offering bouquet of roses and presenting love mementos that are an ideal keepsake. On theis loveable occasion, girls make cakes for their boyfriends, which is seen as a true token of love and sense of belongigness.

Valentine’s day has its association with Saint Valentine- who symolizes virtuous love. Though there are no instances of romance seen in reference to Saint Valentine, until the 14th century. During the times of high middle ages, valentine’s Day puts the semblance of courtly love. If we talk of today, the form of Valentine’s day has changed a lot. The heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid truly associate Sain Valentine’s day in the modern context. Unlike the earlier formso f celebrations where love notes were exchanged, today the traditional love day is celebrated in discotheques, sending overtures to each other, and the like.
Valentine’s day is celebrated with same enthusiasm among the old as well as the young. At some places, the day is used to express love and solidarity for the parents, teachers and elders. With changing times and tastes, Valentine’s day has also become associated with wider connotations. What ever be the form of celebrating this great day, the real essence of love and commitment stays intact even with the changing times.
Valentine’s day dishes out the message of purity of thought and mind, a festival which has no relation between the poor and the rich. What exists and continues eternally is virtuous love.
